ITR brake upgrade
During my last track event at Buttonwillow i ran into some braking issues. I've been running stock Integra GSR front brakes up until this point. I have been eyeballing the ITR brake upgrade for sometime now. Since i needed to replace the pads again i decided this was a good time to pull the trigger on the ITR brake upgrade. I also wanted to remove the backing plates for extra cooling in the front. I have held off on doing this since my lower ball joints had torn boots and i didn't want any grease to get on the rotors. So during the brake upgrade i also installed new factory lower ball joints.
Stock GSR front brake setup
backing plate
Old lower ball joint with torn boot
Old vs. New lower ball joint
New lower ball joint installed
Wrapped the lower ball joints in heat reflective tape
since the backing plates were removed just wanted to be sure the boots dont melt
New rotor (top) vs. Old rotor (bottom)
Old rotor with cracks from the heat (rotor only had 5 events on them)
Old vs New Hawk Blue brake pads
New ITR caliper vs Old GSR caliper
everything installed
After running the Koni Ground Control setup for almost a year, i felt it was time to change the spring rates to help with rotation while on track. I had a fellow HFF Challenge competitor selling some Eibach race springs and i decided this was the perfect opportunity to get them installed before the next event. Big thanks to Nick!!

2017 HFF Challenge Rd.2 - Spring Mountain - 3:06.443
HFF Challenge Round 2
April 22, 2017
Driver: Nicole Cervantes
Car: 1996 Acura Integra GSR
Organization: Speedventures.com/ HFFchallenge.com
Track/ Configuration: Spring Mountain 3.4 mi
Skill Level: Advance
Class: Street
First time of the day: 3:15.510
Final Time of the day: 3:06.443
This was a very fun trip we drove my car to Pahrump, NV very memorable road trip, at the end of this post i will include some cool pictures. This was my first time ever running this track, lets just say i want to go back for more! The facilities are nice with a beautiful breathtaking view, this track is very unique. Sorry ahead of time my camera mount broke so my video is shakey, i didn't realize it broke until i was packing up at the end of the day. So this footage was from my first timed run which was a 3:06.443 in my second session. As the day progressed my tires were giving out, by the end of the weekend they were no more. So with the circumstances of this being a totally new track and having not so great tires i did my best. As for the brakes i did the Type R upgrade and i'm in love, the car stops on a dime with no issues. The new race springs that i installed, along with the new alignment felt perfect the car was rotating beautifully (on a side note i cant wait to drive my car at Buttonwillow ). Also you can see i installed my rear view mirror with the new brackets so i can tilt the mirror and its not in my face anymore. A problem i am running into quite frequently is my gopro battery keeps dying thats why lately i am only filming one session, there has to be another way to have it keep a charge longer (i have some ideas). There is room for lots of improvement, i think next time will go a lot smoother as i will know what to expect.I took 3rd place for Street Class. See you guys at Round 3 Big Willow!!
Put the stock wheels on for the drive up.

Re: D3300 - DC2 Race Car Build
Great thread and car! Just read thru the whole thing. Very informative. Can I ask where did you source the parts for the brake upgrade? Is it direct bolt on or did you need to modify anything?

Thank you for stopping by! The brakes are plug and play, no modifications necessary. Brake calipers and brackets are from a US Integra Type R, brake rotors are from a base Mini Cooper. Everything can be bought from rockauto.com The set i have on my car i got from a friend.

2017 HFF Challenge Rd.3 - Big Willow - 1:46.887
HFF Challenge Round 3
May 27, 2017
Driver: Nicole Cervantes
Car: 1996 Acura Integra GSR
Organization: Speedventures.com/ HFFchallenge.com
Track/ Configuration: Big Willow
Skill Level: Advance
Class: Street
First time of the day: 1:53.793
Final Time of the day: 1:46.887
Before the track event i went to R Compound USA to pick up a fresh set Toyo R1R's, since my RS3's were done at my last event (Thank you Duane!). I also installed my new camera mount from Track Solutions since i broke my original one -_-.
Track Solutions roll bar mount, there is also a insert which is not shown that goes on the mount.
The day of the track event started off by me missing my first session, Willow Springs was very busy and it took about 20mins to get in the front gate. My first session out i took it easy for about 2 laps knocking the boogers off the new tires. As i have never driven on these tires before i didn't know what to expect but i ended up really liking once i warmed up to them. The last time i was at Big Willow i ran a 1:50 flat in my Subaru WRX so i ultimately wanted to beat that time. I am pleased to say i got a new personal best 1:46.887, i was hauling in my last session when i clicked that time. Like i mentioned earlier i installed a new camera mount but guess who forgot to adjust it lower? thats right ME lol so my video kind of got blocked out by my rearview mirror. I swear i will get this right one day lol I ended up getting 4th place but getting a new PB means a lot to me. I wont be going to Laguna Seca this year for Round 4, i will see you guys at Buttonwillow for Round 5!
New PB at Big Willow!

Well I finally swapped all of my pictures to a new photohost, the process took a bit i think i had over 600-700 photos to swap from my old host. Now that i have everything swapped i can start updating with the more recent stuff. Stay tuned! :D

Re: D3300 - DC2 Race Car Build
Hi Nicole, awesome thread! Thanks a lot for sharing your build with us. I'm looking into building up a DC2 for track, so this is extremely informative for me.
I may have missed it in the other pages, but are you running the Koni sport or race model? If sport, were they revalved to handle higher spring rates? IIRC, the practical limit is about 600lb/in with OTS Sports.

Great, thank you! So you use the "Sport" valving, which is different from OTS yellows/sport? And with those spring rates, you're still on "street" tires, right?

Probably one of the best upgrades ever! I wouldn't know if it would fit with the gsr blades.. but i do put my stock wheels on to drive up to the track.
