Whats up Honda-Tech my name is Nicole been a long time member on HT since 2004. When i first joined HT I had a 95 Integra GSR sadly that car is no longer with us anymore. Few years passed and I ventured into the Subaru world but later sold my 06 WRX so I could get another DC2. The Integra I purchased is a 1996 GSR. I used to daily drive my car, but I wanted to do more with it and later turned it into a dedicated street race car and stopped daily driving it. I currently daily my 08 Civic Si and i fell in love with that car as well(but thats a whole new journal). There are so many plans for this car and i honestly can't wait to see my car transform into what I've always wanted. My goals are to race in Honda Challenge and also NASA TT, currently I am competing in HFF Challenge all Honda Time Trial. I have a lot of pictures that I will share in chronological order from the first day I bought her to current, lots of maintenance, installs, track prep, track days, photoshoots, driving and lots of video. i will start here... There was an oil change and pre-track maintenance inspection and a rear seat swap that i didn't get pictures of that i did prior to this...

The previous owner had this weird leather rear seat, which i was happy that he had given me all the original interior to throw it back in. So i changed that immediately back to the cloth.

This was the first time back to the track in my Integra. I was on a long hiatus from driving, i did a lot of track days with the Subaru. So it was a great feeling being back in my office. Did some instructing with some friends that were Subaru owners at Streets of Willow March of 2011. I didn't get any times for my car that day, i was just doing a shake down of the car and noticed my car was too low when the front mudflaps were dragging in the bowl. I had left everything as is from when i bought it from the previous owner. My main focus was to help my friends out with driving that day. I knew this car was going to be fun just by the little track time i had with it. I knew there was a lot of work to be done. None the less it was a great time.

Did a lot of things to the car which includes: oil change, adjust coilovers, adjust the alignment, inspect brake lines, inspect brake pads, inspect rotors, rotate tires, inspect exhaust rattle, adjust tire pressure, clean air filter, remove air intake resonator.

Since i bought the car i really wasn't happy with the BBS wheels, just wasn't my thing. I ended up putting them for sale and sold them pretty quick. Lets just say the stock wheels is what i had on my Integra for a long time since i sold them. I know the appearance wasn't that great but i think it personally looked good. Took a bit to get used to but i was satisfied with my decision. Everyone asked why would i do that?! again different strokes for different folks. I also threw on the stock mirrors, got rid of the carbon fiber ones, which were broken and i couldn't see out of the passenger side mirror.

The shifter bushings were pretty shot. Everything felt like you were stirring porridge just didn't feel right. I purchased all new OEM Honda shifter bushings, shift lever, energy suspension shifter stabilizer bushings to replace the old worn out stuff that was currently in the car. Sorry for the not so great pictures ahead of time, the lighting was not cooperating with my camera at that time. I tried to snap most of the stuff we did and put the most important pictures up.

The car came with some "razo" pedals, which was another thing i wasn't too fond of. One day i was driving home from work and the clutch pedal fell off and i drove like that for a while. Then John gave me an awesome birthday gift and bought me all new Sparco pedals. I wanted to immediately put them on, so we did! We had to mock up the pedals to the bare pedals on the car. Mark the holes we wanted to drill and install the new pedals. Since i don't trust myself with a drill John took charge of this task. lol I actually prefer these pedals over any other pedals i have ever used. They reminded me of the ones that came stock in my WRX and the feel felt so natural yet is meant for aggressive driving which was perfect for me. Rev matching, heel toe never felt better in this car. Love it! Only thing about these pedals is that the little black rubber things fall off as the time goes by, which it hasn't really made a difference for me.

I also finally took off this duckbill off the rear of my car and gave it to my sister for her civic. It actually fit perfect on her car surprisingly, even though it wasn't meant for her car. The duckbill wasn't really my style and the look i was trying to achieve for my car.



So when i bought my integra the owner told me the gas gauge didn't work and it always reads empty. So he didn't specifically tell me why and as far as i known everything should be plugged in back there. What do we do, we tear my car apart and start testing things with our trusty multimeter and everything was checking out fine. We didn't once think about taking the actual cluster out and inspecting it. After doing all the inspecting of the fuel pump area we finally take out the gauge cluster. Since this cluster is a JDM ITR cluster i guess in the back there is no fuel plug for the gauge. I never read up on it so it was probably a mistake on my part. This was very frustrating.. lol for the most part we put the car back together. I am currently looking for a stock gsr gauge cluster/no trades... So if you are selling one and reading PM me.

When i say everything in this car needs to be replaced i am not lying. It's all the stuff over time the previous owner neglected. I am always about maintenance first and making sure i keep the longevity of my cars.

Today's installs:


Replacing the old cam seal with a billet one from BLOX. I know you are thinking WHY BLOX? To my knowledge if was the only billet one that i found of a brand that i knew of. I didn't want another OEM one it just looked like it wouldn't hold like the one on the car and a nice billet one seemed the way to go.

Replaced the VTEC solonoid with OEM gasket.

Replaced the valve cover gaskets with of course OEM Honda gaskets. It really needed this the one that was currently on there was old cracked and crusty.

Also did an oil change cause it was time. Changed oil now i am using Motul 10w40.



These last two pictures are of my integra and John's old DA integra race car(sold), the only pictures with both of our cars together. Also notice the duckbill gone from the rear of my car? Looks good!

The car was acting a bit on the sluggish side so i decided to change the spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor. Previous owner seems like they only did maintenance only if the car needed it. Didn't really keep up with it good like i would but hey that's why she is here now. I also wanted a compression test done since we would be in the area, just to know everything is good under the hood. Unfortunately I can't find the numbers from the compression test but everything checked out good. When i do find the paper with the numbers i will update this post. The car really needed these parts badly, the car felt so refreshed after.

When I was inspecting the brake pads noticed they were kind of getting low. I decided to order Hawk HP+ pads and new Centric blank rotors. I figured might as well order the stainless steel brake lines front and rear and do a flush on my car. Since I didn't know the last time it was done on this car might as well do it now. For brake fluid i usually ordered ATE Super blue but since that was deemed illegal to use in the US i had to find something just as good and I ended up purchasing Motul RBF 600. I have heard nothing but good things and read up on the fluid and it also had a higher boiling point tolerance than Super Blue.

Went for my usual ritual after a great install!

Since i bought my DC2 I knew i wanted to replace the motor mounts. Why did i wait so long to replace these parts, i think it was more of finding the time to do it because i knew the car had to be down for a few. The car felt like the engine was going to fallout from the bottom of the car. The ride wasn't pleasant as i was daily driving the car at the time so even if i had a passenger you can tell in their face it wasn't pleasant. So i finally made the decision on pulling the trigger on the Hasport Motor Mounts because they are the best! I got the Hasport 62A "street durometer" in machined billet non anodized. The motor mount install was pretty straight forward, had everything installed in a few hours. I just couldn't believe that mounts were so wore out that when we took them out the center of the mount just fell out like nothing.
