Custom GPS tracker install.
Hi everyone I am building a custom gps tracking solution based on a linksys wrt54g router and a locosys 20 Channel LS20126 GPS/Accelerometer receiver from sparkfun.com
I am at the point where I need to wire this thing into my 92 integra. After research I found out that you can connect my version of the wrt54g straight to the car battery because of an onboard voltage regulator.
So I found out from http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com...gra/index.html
that my car has a +12v dc output at the fuse box and I would like to hook the router up to this. I cut the line that normally goes into the linksys power supply at the wall so that I now have the female plug that goes into the router and then the 2 wires (1 positive and 1 negative) that come from that. On the positive wire I soldered a quick connector that can connect to the fusebox +5vdc ... The big question here is what do I do with the negative line? Anyone have any ideas on how to power this up? I do not want to use a cig lighter because I want a little bit of stealth and I want to use my cig lighter Thanks in advance....
