Cruise cotntrol button removal...
I was just wonderig how you remove the cruise control button on 98 LS??? I ran a search and didn't come up with anything. I want to be able to cleanly remove it with no scratches or anything. Thanks in advance, Jason.

If you are talking about the cruise control button on the steering wheel. Then it is not possible to take it out without disconnecting your horn. The CC buttons are connected to the air bag real/harness. You can actually just take it out and have a big hole there where the CC buttons used to be, but not only are you sacrificing your CC but your horn as well.

Are you talking about the button on the left hand side, opposite the guage brightness dial?? If you are, they can come out VERY easily. I popped mine out with a screwdriver. If you wanna do it a harder but possibly safer way, you can remove the front of the guage cluster, actually the box that sets the guages back by taking out the 2 top screws because the bottom of it simply snaps. The reach down, push on the sides and the whole cruise control button/pod pops right out. Then you need to disconnect the wiring which should just snap out. I took mine out to paint the ring around the button and I simply used a flat head screwdriver and my hands... hope this helps a little

Thank you that did work well. I used the taking out the gauge cluster method, i really was worried about scratching my dash. Both methods work fiine though.

Glad I could help... I am about to do something similar to it! Good luck with whatever you are going to put there.

Why would you want to get rid of the cruise control button/cruise control?
Is this the same concept as the 1. clock removal 2. rear wiper removal ?

What are you going to do if you sell the car, and want to put the cruise control button back in.. and now the hole is too big? Unless you never had to modify the hole in the first place.

you dont want to leave it on because it does draw vacume... part of the system draws vacume so it knows when your accelerating and decelerating.. if you have a vacume gague hooked up you will see it change a little.. and that means it's usinga little power.. so if you worry about being nickle and dimed to death with it... then just turn if off and leave it off...
