Corrupt ecu?
Hi guys I'm new to working on integras and new to site. I had a 95gsr 15yrs ago and recently picked a couple 99 gsr's. One gsr,I traded a ep3 for and the other I got a good deal on due to having a misfire.
I got the misfire figured out but idle was surging.
while car was running I unplugged tps to see if anything would change. After I unplugged the tps the car died. I went to start back up and it flooded so bad it hydrolocked. I got gas all out of engine and noticed when I turn key on fuel wont stop priming and all injectors open spraying fuel into cylinders. It wasn't doing this until I unplugged the tps sensor while car was running. Even after plugging tps back in it still just kept priming and injectors are just opening right away.
I suspected the ECU freaked out and so since I have another integra gsr same as this one I plugged in ecu from it into this one. It ran then had a little surge. So I unplugged the tps to see if there would be any change again and now this other ecu is acting up. Both ecu's which are both out of 99 integra gsr's started acting corrupt after simply unplugging tps while car was running.
1 ecu just flood cylinders in both cars now
the other ecu that worked perfect wont send spark now.
both instances happend after unplugging tps while car was running. Would unplugging the tps with car running cause the ecu to get corrupted? I'm sure there is nothing else going on besides the ecu because now even the good ecu out of my other running integra got messed up after unplugging tps while car was running. This seems bizarre but that is what happend. Question is, do these ecus mess up that easy?
thanks guys

Can i ask why in the world are you unplugging the TPS while the engine is running???
There's very few sensors the engine needs to run properly and the TPS is like #1..
Unplugging the TPS will deff shut the engine off and send a check engine code for TPS.
You might have wanted to unplug the IACV if you had idle surging and unplugging the IACV should shut the engine off and send a check engine code.

TPS on speed density is for acceleration enrichment and sanity checking. Speed density doesn't give a poop about what the throttle plate is doing. Yeah it will throw a code and probably enter limp mode but it will continue to run.
Alpha N on the other hand absolutely requies the TPS be functional. It is TPS x RPM in Alpha N.
