Default coolant overflow

ok my car has been over heating due to the fact that the coolant rises and returns into the reservoir tank and eventually floods. Now I'm guessing that I need to replace the radiator cap.(Probably because the seal on the reservoir cap is bad, therefore not holding pressure, and pressure with coolant is being released into the tank.) What do you guys think?? I'm getting my nre radiator cap today, so hopefully that will take care of it. Oh by the way, I just installed turbo, and I relocated the reservoir tank a little over from where it used to be. All help will be appreciated. TIA.

One more thing. I relocated the tank, and it sits leveled with the height of the radiator. Does that affect it at all? I thought maybe since the original one was sitting below the radiator top, that could make a difference in pressure. It did not do this before the radiator was relocated.

k, well i just went through the same ordeal. car overheated a few times. replaced caps and thermostats a few times. still had coolant overflowing. turns out that the head was slightly warped from the heat. basically, it was compression from the cylinders getting to the cooling system and pushing out coolant. fyi, there was no mixing of coolant and oil. what you need to find out now is one of three things; one, is the head warped or cracked? two, is the head gasket blown? and three, is the block cracked?

i got lucky with mine, turned out the head was slightly warped. solution, having a machine shop shave the bottom til its smooth. it also gave me a chance to shave a little extra off since its already there and raise the compression up a little for some extra power.

wish you luck on yours.

I think that may be it. Im going to take the head off this week and find out. Also when I first turn on the engine, it shoots out real thick black smoke. I hoped it's just a warped head. Thanks.
