Hey guys and girls. I have 98 integra GS with an obd1 gsr engine installed. My problem is here in NJ they're getting really strict about inspection and check engine lights. They actually hold reinspection several times a month in my town on closed roads. In order for me to pass inspection I need to convert this obd1 b18c1 to obd2. Could anybody help me find what sensors and or other things I will need to do this successfully. I already have the obd2 gsr ecu but that's it. Thanx in advance

On the engine side, the only difference is the distributor and injectors. Beyond that, possibly a 2nd O2 sensor?
Was the wiring completly converted to OBDI? It may be best for you to score an OBDII engine harness, injectors and distributor. If the 2nd O2 sensor has chassis mounted wiring, it may already be there and ready to use.
Quick way to check your distributor: Does it have one big square plug or two separate plugs? (one had two wires and the other has a few).

You will need an Evap canister along with all necessary components for it, i believe. Besides that, an obd2a or b ecu, injectors, and knock sensor if you wish to have it. You dont really need the knock sensor, but you will throw a code for it with a obd2 ecu.
whats the purpose for the switch anyway? if i might ask

forget my question up top, i read your first post fully...
As for inspection, yea it is a hassle. Being from jersey and all, i know that in some parts of the state it can be very rigorous.
My advice to you, hook up the evap canister, injectors, knock sensor and put in an obd2 computer, and see if you throw any codes. If there is no CEL, take it to the inspection or pay someone to pass it (if you have HIDs or anything like that)....Also remember that you need a secondary o2 sensor but not really necessary to have it reading accurately.
Just do the defouler trick to it, and you can run a test pipe or gutted cat with no problems. Aftermarket exhaust should be fine, as long as the tip is not over a certain diameter, but if you put the silencer on, which decreases the diameter of the opening, it will "fool" them into thinking that its not that big. Therefore, i think hids and tints would be the only things that i would worry about, if you have them.

tru I didn't think of that thanx. When I plugged in the obd2 ecu the car runs fine. The only problem is there's no vtec and the CEL comes on right away compared to the obd1 ecu which the CEL would come on after driving maybe 15 mins

Im glad im not from those parts...ive never had a problem with cops and inspection. I do tho, try to stay away from the "suburban" parts of NJ especially down south. down there cops are little less leniant and more likely to pull you over cuz of any little thing.
I have it bad either way....
Stay by the hood...get the car stolen
or go to suburbs and get tickets out of my ***...
hmm...i think i rather do the tickets, but none are fun.

Do they plug up anything to the OBD port when they check? If they dont then just take your cluster out and pull out the little bulb that lights up the CEL
