Clutch master/slave prob as opposed to clutch itself?
How would you tell if a clutch engagement related issue is a master/slave cyl problem as opposed to the clutch or throwout bearing itself? Basically my clutch is engaging rough, with chatter and what not.
I'm assuming its a clutch disc, flywheel, or TOB related issue. but just before I drop that SOB off the car, how would i verify its not related to my hydraulic system?
Thanks guys!

I guess what i'm really asking... is how do you know if you have problems with clutch master/slave cylinders period? how do you verify theyre working properly. I mean, my clutch is engaging and disengaging so they must be working to some extent, but how do i know that the chatter isnt caused by the slave cylinder piston moving in and out erratically?

Clutch master cylinder, word here is you can feel/see moisture from the leaking cylinder on the inside of the car. Its true, my clutch felt weird, loss of pressure, used my fingers to feel around where my pedal goes through the firewall and sure enough a lot of nasty dirty oil. As for chatter, could be a warped flywheel. Actually, i just read your post again, im pretty sure its your flywheel. Get a full kit from Proclutch on ebay, its working great on my car right now.

On mine, I manually pressed in the slave cylinder with my hand and I heard air escape from the reservoir cap. Then I went to push on the pedal and I had no pressure. After continuously pushing for a while it slowly built up pressure.
That's a bad MC.

yea that will fix it. unless its allready been shaved a few times and theres not enough to shave it again but i highly doubt that.

I think it would, but if your going to replace the flywheel, your probably going want to just cough up the extra dough for the full kit, atleast clutch and throwout bearing. Also, i'm not entirely sure how much cheaper/easier it is to resurface a flywheel over just replacing it. I was under the assumption that you could get a kit (i believe includes clutch, throwout bearing, alignment tool) and a flywheel for not a considerable about of money, maybe like $250? I've never done this though so I'm not positive.

was this a generic clutch??
Ive had flywheels resurfaced, lots of placse do it and its about $20-$25. And yes, theres no way i'm dropping the tranny and NOT replacing the clutch. If the tranny gets dropped i do everything.

well, and actually i never said what car this is for, i dont think he has a kit for my car.
note: actually he does, but its 175 and doesnt come with a flywheel, and thats more expensive than buying just an exedy, and its generic.
