Check engine light???
A little while ago my check engine light came on and i checked for the code and it came out to 8 blinks which meant there was a problem with my "top dead center" sensor. Is there any way of fixing the problem without having to replace the distributor? Also, theres an annoying humming noise that comes out of my intake. Any suggestions. Thanks
What mods have you done lately? Did this pop up out of the blue?
Ill re-read the Helms manual. Its confusing me right now since I have not slept all night. This is waht I got so far.
Check for shorts in the CKP/TDC/CYP sensor. If you dont want to change the distributor, make sure there is no continuity to body ground on both terminals of the indicated sensor individually.
Humming? is everything secured tight or is it rubbing something? Does not sound like a serious problem.

yea my check engine light came on out of the blue. Started my car one day, drove for about 15 minutes and my check engine light came on and it started to idle funny (idled below the 500 point). Any step by step instructions on what to do? Kind of new to the electrical stuff. TIA
I've had pleanty of distributor problems with my NEW Acura Dist. Check the wires inside the distributor as if they come loose can cause problems. I took off Dist and wiggled wires to the ignitor and fixed my jumping tach/hesitating engine. Mine also idles funny, so I got a hunch the TDC wiring might be a little off.
Keep me posted as to what you find. If you've got a multimeter check the connectors to the distributor first before you start looking inside. Might be a simple fix, might not be.

Thanks for the info but i think im going to just replace the whole distributor. The whole procedure sounds kind of complicating so I guess im going to have to fork up the 200 bucks and get a new distributor. Thanks again though.

Do I have to replace my whole distributor to replace my TDC sensor or can i just replace my cap and rotor? What were you going to use my distributor for?
