Driving home from work yesterday my car threw a cel 22 vtec pressure swich. went home checked everything out reset the light and went and road tested it according to the helms manual with a presure switch malfunction light didn't come back on but now my idle is jacked up push in the clutch and it stays at 1500 and drops down to 1100 then back to 1500 what is wrong its pissing me off. Car has 118,xxx miles, I/H/E thats it.

The first thing to check when u get code 22 is to make sure u got plenty of oil, if u do, then make sure the connector is connected to the sensor, the pressure switch could also use cleaning. Just unbolt it and clean the filter. As for ur idle, u could try cleaning ur IACV or FITV, maybe some other maintenance stuff, check ur spark plugs and see if they're running good or not. Also, do u have the idle problem when the car is cold or warm?

this is when the idle is warm. I didn't think that 96 and newer had a FITV. had new plugs, wires, cap, rotor put in about 4 years ago. Last summer I cleaned the iacv

So ur Vtec is working now and u just got the idle problem? Take out ur spark plugs and look at em, see if they're black or white or anything else. spark plugs are a good way to tell how ur engine is running. I used to have a surging idle when my car was running rich. have u checked the timing recently too?
