Car died twice, need some advice.
Hey H-T I just wanted to get some input from some of you techs. I know you may say search which I have done already but I just want to make sure I know the right problem before my car dies again.
1st time my car died was about two weeks ago coming off the freeway. It would crank but wouldn't turn over. After about 15 minutes and a push start it turned over. I got it home and changed out my distributor cap, rotor, and ignition coil.
2nd time with those new parts installed and about 75 miles after my car died at a stoplight 3 miles from home. Everything just shut off. Same thing happend - cranks but never turned over. Got it home with some help and after about a 2 days rest it worked but with a jumpy idle. My dad noticed the spark plug with too large of a gap so he decreased the gap. I drove it today about 15 miles with no problems.
Thing is, could the spark plug gap make that much of a difference?
Also is there anything else that someone could suggest may be a problem. TIA H-T
