Need help car won't start!
Hey all need some major help advice anything you got. The car is a 1998 Honda civic LX auto. What happened is recently at about 60 mph the cars rpms will drop from 3000 to like 2200 and keep bouncing and lurching. I replaced the fuel filter, checked all vacumes and I went to clean the cap, rotar, and spark plug wire ends. I put it all back together and it started super quick for a couple seconds and died, Tried to crank it again nothing. No spark at all so I'm figuring I shorted out the coil or the whole distributer. A friend told me I may have messed it up by cranking the car with the key to get to the screw on the rotar to take it off ,with the distributer cap off causing the coil to shortout. What do you guys think I tried a new cap and rotar still no spark. Much appreciated -Ryan
Thx for the reply, nothing was done or happened. It just started happening when I was on the freeway doing like 80 and the rpm drops and goes back up but the problem now is I can't get it started. Ordered a new coil and new distributer I ordered the coil by accident didn't know it was in the distributer. No spark what's the best way to check distributer. Also any another things that can short out connected to the distributer?
