I am going to be running a cat-back and would like to eliminate the cat (biggest bottle-neck) and was wondering what sort of resonated test-pipe is recommended.
All I am doing is I/H/E, so the 2.25" is enough. Only one I have found is OBX, any other cheap suggestions.
Actually. I wouldnt mind a testpipe as well since exhaust will be very quiet (chambered muffler) - probably a cheaper option
Thanks!
PS - Its a 98 DC2

You want recommendations....... - buy a high-flow converter, and stop being so cheap. Magnaflow universal is like $60-$85. Test pipes/resonated test pipes = RICER
Do it right or don't do it at all. $.02

Are you really that brainwashed? The only thing you "gain" is noise. Power gains have been proven time and time again on a "street legal" N/A car to be minimal at best. 1-2hp on the very top end and greater loss in the low to midrange. Do some research and look over the dyno charts before you go jumping the test pipe bandwagon.
Save your rolling eyes for your ricer buddies, & your illegal test pipe.
High flow converters have no ill effects on performance, most are 50 state legal, and don't produce that stereotypical RICER raspy exhaust tone. [Insert rolleyes here ]

Yikes, lets all get along...
I will take your suggestion into consideration - Wraith. I would like a bolt-on solution. I did see an OBX cat which was quite expensive at 140 bux

I can't quote you prices for bolt-ons but if you want to support a well know H-T'er you can contact Dave at SMS Products (user-name SMSP). He can get you set up if needed with a bolt-on solution.
IDK much about the OBX brand, but some of the more popular high-flow replacements are made by Magnaflow/Carsound, Catco, Random Tech, etc...... Keep in mind, all legal (CARB & EPA approved) converters will have a 5 yr warranty.

oh man you got me..and i actually gained 6hp across the board....guess im on the bandwagon...and it dosent sound raspy if you do the exhaust right and you actually have power for you to have a 2.5 straight exhaust..so my suggestion, before you say ricer, is to actually know what the expletive youre talking about

Wraithe - I may go with a bolt on 2.25" solution from magnaflow. I called and asked them and they have a direct fit they recommended for simple mods like what I will have - Intake, header and exhaust. So, I am thinking about this solution. Thanks for your input!

I don't want to hi-jack b18c4door's thread, but you make incorrect assumption in almost every statement.
First of all if this is a street driven car, doing your "exhaust right" includes being 50 state legal. You my friend are not. Federal law requires all factory emissions equipment remain on the car or be replaced by approved replacements regardless of the state/area you live in.
Second, you gained 6hp compared to what and measured on what (Butt-Dyno maybe)? If you are implying you gained 6hp over the stock converter, then congratulations on a false conclusion. Highly suspect that you gained 6hp over a high-flow converter of equal size.
Oh, and BTW.... I know quite well what I am talking about.

Yea, ok so I am supposed to be the "dipshit". It wasn't me who neglected to mention I was handing out advise based on my "off-road" car to a member with a street driven car. Oh that's right, that was you. Good job.
Hmmmm, "dad" you say: Well if I was re-building carburetors, swapping clutches, & learning to drive a 3-on-the-tree about the time you were an itch in your Daddy's pants..... then I guess I could be your Dad. God forbid though!
BTW - as long as I am tell you everything you already know..... try the spell checker. You mis-spelled useless, you're, & dip-****.

I dunno bout you Wraith_G2IC , but who gives a flyin expletive. You buy what you buy because its YOUR car and nobody can tell you to do otherwise. This was a person in need of advice, and people are giving it to him. Stop flamin everybody for their comments because you dissagree and making yourself look like an *** you already are. So go help yourself and the enviroment.... ride a bicycle.
I just ran a gutted cat on my gsr with a 2 1/4 piping all the way.
I can tell you honestly, you'll gain little to no power at all on a stock motor with just bolt ons. It's not worth the risk of getting caught up and getting that huuuuuuge *** fine. Just run a high flow cat and call it a day. Or if you really really really want to have no restrictions, then just buy an extra cat and gutt it out.
