Default Help with replacing muffler! Please?

I just tried to replace my muffler that came with my Integra with one I bought off of someone on craigslist that had a 2000 GS-R since the one I had wasn't stock. Anyway I had problems getting the spring bolt off, I tried using two socket wrenches with 12mm sockets but neither one budges and if I try using more force it just bends the setup where my muffler is attached to the rest of the exhaust piping. Am I doing something wrong? Besides that, the OEM 2000 GS-R muffler I got... when I pick it up sometimes I hear things rattling in it and of course it's more obvious when I shake it, how can I get it out and will it affect the way my car sounds with it on? Seems like it'll cause a constant annoyance, right?

As far as getting the nuts off, use penetrating lube and let it sit over night. Try that. If no go, use a propane torch and heat the nuts causing the metal to expand. Then see if the wrences work. Try and use six sided. 12 point wrenches are garbage.

Thanks, I never knew 12 or 6 pointed wrenches made a difference. I'm still wondering if hearing something inside the muffler I'm going to put on the teg will effect it though.

you are using wrenches on both sides of the bolt setup down there, right? after you soak it with any lube, make sure you use wrenches on both sides... one of the head of the bolt, the other on the nut end. and no, i don't think you'll have problems if there's "stuff" (if it's small and minor) shaking in your cat.

actually, if you have noise comming from the inside of the cat. your cat might be FINITO. I know over time, the cats deteriate, and what not. So your **** might be comming apart on the inside. there isnt anything serious, but just cut it off anyway. MORE WHP!
