Putting in my axel nut, I stripped the nut and axel threads and wont go in. Anyone know if its possible to rethread them?

Yes you can, i know snap on sells axle retreaders. Not sure if i would recommend retreading your axles if you drive hard.

Well, as a person who works on cars, i have done it for customers, but when you retread, it weakens the treading, on this case the axle. If it's a normal driven car, it would not be a big deal, but if you drive your car hard, you risk the chance of it loosening.

Also, you can probably buy the retreader at any metal shop that sell such item.

I asked a guy at autozone he said i need a new axel. axel nuts will proally corrode on for me since i live in salty area so it will hold.

hopefully i can find a place that can do it.

glad theres not alot of stress on those threads....after all, all the power is transferred through the spline...get to rethreading

dude, why not just buy a new axle? how much are you gonna spend on rethreading, and then how much is a whole new axle. some foor for thought.
