Breaking Engine in question
Alright so Soon I'm going to be replacing my main bearings(TAIHO), Rod bearings (ACL) and throwing a turbo kit on it. My turbo is a used garret t3 oil/water cooled. Should I still use non synthetic oil? Also is that bad for the turbo since it's used and it already was run with synthetic oil. When I do break it in, I want to go tune right away so should I just leave my car at idle like at 2000rpm for a while then drive 5 blocks away to go tune it? Because I only have about 3 days to finish changing my bearings and put on the turbo kit and tune before i have to go home and work the next day. Oh yeah i forgot to mention that I'm going HIgh Compression turbo. My Comp ratio is around 10:8:1 to 11:1:0 with cp pistons so i'm kinda scared just to drive it very slow to the tuning shop even though its so close. Unless driving it at 2k is fine then its all good cuz I can take residential streets to get to the shop.
you could hook up the turbo and not run the piping all the way to the intake or if you have a boost controller then dont let it boost up all the way
I'm probly Just going to be using a 5lb wastegate spring for my tial with no boost controller. Unless I dont get enough power that i want then I'll get a boost controller. Well at least that was my plan. But yeah not having the piping connected all the way sounds like it'll work. I don't really want to rent a tow
But does any1 know for the oil if its still ok to use non syn for the break in with the used turbo?

Thats how I did my NA motor.

Hrmm.. I also read this http://www.laskeyracing.com/shop/breakin.htm and it seems like adam081904 was right but that was what i was planning to do. Probably let it idle for like 15 to 20 min at 2k rpm then drive it to the dyno.
