bent control arm?
This happened a month ago now or so, but some of the roads around here got torn up and i guess i hit a ditch...anyway, my front right wheel seems to be offcentered from the wheel well. If you look at it straight on it looks to be off to the left maybe 2 inches or so. I talked to a couple of people including the dealership and they said it might be a bent control arm and could cost around a thousand bucks ( worth to go through insurance?). I havent had a chance for this to be looked by a mechanic at but I was wondering if any of you guys knew what this could be and if it is say a bent control arm, i looked at it online and you can get upper and lower control arms...which one would it be?...should this happen after I've only had the car around 12k miles? Easy install?...or should I have a mechanic do it?.. Any response is appreciated. :/
hey man i got the exact same problem. with mine i hit a raised up sewer when my car was slammed. im pretty sure i got sub frame damage. have you checked your crossmember for any damage? if your control arm is bent its not to difficult to replace yourself as long as your comfortable with working on your car. a new control arm is like $150 and the only part thats real difficult is seperating it from the hubs. but it could be done for way less than 1 G. if u need anything else hit me up. im from chicago also.
i hit the right front wheels on a curb going about 50 and it bent the lower arm...the lower arm costs 200 from acura and i installed it myself....i say just take it to like discoutn tire get it up on the rack and look at whats bent then buy the parts and do it yourself or let them do it whatever you want then get an alignment
Hey, I have the exact same problem too. I was driving around in an empty parking lot late at night and my nitto 450s (shitty tires) couldnt handle a turn and i hit a curb. My tire went flat and i messed up my lip, but i thought that was all that was wrong. I went and got new tires at ntb today and the wheel that hit the curb was pushed back. The guy said its probably a bent control arm, and it might be a bent strut as well. I have koni yellows, so i hope not. They're looking at it right now, but they said it would cost $306 total, to order the arm from honda and install it. So whoever said it would be a grand is full of ****.
Yea, I ended bringing it to a local shop about a week ago and they took a look at it for free rather than 90 bucks from acura. anyway the control arm list from acura was around 280, but i ended up getting it from a junkyard for 130 and had to replace the endlink from my sway bar for 60. did the labor myself and ended up coming out around 200 bucks, so it wasnt all to bad, now just gotta get an alignment.
hey man, just for future knowledge when you need to buy simple parts like control arms that don't really wear out...here's a great site for an import junk yard in my city that will ship the parts to you anywhere in the U.S. for a pretty damn good price. and they're WAY lower than buying it from the damn dealer
so anyway, here's the site. check it out.

, or should I just goto like NTB and get it done there for the 50 bucks?
