Default Beating a GT

My friend is pissing the **** out of me with his 2000 mustang gt.... I'd like to know what mods are needed to beat this fool..

Right now im running I/H/E in a GSR integ but hes talking so much **** its inspiring me to build it further than that...

If i get Skunk2 S2 cams/valvetrain/camgears will i win? Yes/No

What if i add Intake Manifold and 68MM throttle body on top of mods above will i win? Yes/No

And If i finish the build by doing the bottem block with ITR pistons will i win? Yes/No

Thats how i plan to build the gsr in order.....

(sry guys i just wanna beat this fools A$$ sometimes even though hes my best friend lol....)

if you're just drag racing that's easy: boost

make sure you get something with good response as i'm guessing you want to take him off the line as well as at the end

dollar for dollar, it's not worth doing an all motor build.

you could do the entire valvetrain, stroke it to 2.0 with high compression pistons, intake manifold, exhaust and everything and you probably still wouldn't make as much power as if you did a mild turbo build

If you were running the stock 95 Gt even with a stock gsr, you will keep up till about 95ish then he will start to pull away. I cannot say the same for the 2000 Gt because they are pretty quick. Boost is your best hope or you can try NOs. But seriously, I would just play it safe and let them talk their ****.

this is an autocross build versus a drag race build. just pointing this out for others who are thinking. absolute hp numbers don't always make the fastest platform. it all depends on what the car is doing

I do agree that boost is the best way to make power on our little 4 cylinders but boost isnt completely nescesary if you want to beat your friends mustang.
Im assuming its a stock mustang so with the skunk 2 cams and camgears along with the upgraded valvetrain you would be on a good start. I would recommend getting the itr pistons before the intake manifold becuase an aftermarket intake isnt really needed until getting better pistons. After that you should be able to beat that mustang considering your car is a lot lighter than his and you also got more power now.

Nitrous is the cheapest. Just get it tuned. 700 dollars tops.

You're talking about a 270 hp rwd car that does 0-60 in ~ 5.5 s and the quarter in the low 14's. To get that performance out of a GS-R on street tires and pump gas isn't easy all motor, but it's not impossible either. I'd say you'd need to be in the low 200's whp to pull it off. It's not impossible, but you probably won't get there with a stock bottom end. Think increased compression, full high quality I/H/E (not ebay), stage 2 or 3 cams, increased redline, and a good tune. Turbo would be cheaper.

Bench racing... bad.

Go to a track and race. You'd be surprised at how many people do not know how to drive their car.
