Default battery

Would it cause any harm to the car to change the battery while the car is running this way the radio and clock are not interupted or would it be better to just do it when the car is off even though the clock would be changed.

Hmmm...I would not even try and risk that just for the sake of having to set the radio and the clock. Just take a few extra mins and make sure everything is off before changing out the batt.

JUST for jee wiz, you can start your car and take your battery out, and still drive with out the battery. Your alternator powers your car. Try it some time. I have done it before at a friends. My battery died so I took his, started my car, and gave him the battery back. I made it home with out the car shutting off.

yeah i did that one time cuz i couldn't jump start my jetta. i pulled the battery out of my accord, put it in the jetta, started it, took out the battery while it was still running and put the jetta's original battery back in, and drove it away. no problems.

i agree, how long does it take to reset your clock and radio, maybe 10 mins at the most.

Its safe as long as you don't take all day. That is how our tech's do it here at the shop. Pull the radio codes on the new honda's is a PITA. You won't hurt a thing as long as you do it fairly quike. other wise you can burn up the diodes in the alternator.
