BAR Certification?
ok heres my situation at the moment..im trying to decide whether to buy a..
BLOX mani=$150 (not carb legal)
OR
SKUNK2=$250+ (carb legal)
i dont feel like spending that extra 100 dollars since i will be replacing many components trying to pass my car...
my question:
how does the ref know the difference between the two manifolds? can you use a carb eo number from a skunk2? also oviously i wont have an official skunk2 sticker can i just tell him the number?
what do you guys think?

they cant tell the difference between the two but they can tell if the vacuume lines arent running like a stock one would, AFAIK the s2 mani has the label stickerd onto it (like the PGM-FI sticker is on a stock mani)......i havent seen the blox b4, but if it were unfinished aluminum like the s2 ones used to be (or still are?) then you should be fine as long as the lines run just like stock ones do....i personally would pay the extra $100 and have the peace of mind

Make sure you have your EO# for the mani because they still think that the manifold is "still pending" an EO#. When I went thru bar they were questioning my stock manifold thinking that it was a skunk2 mani. They had pics and everything. You are better off looking for a stock one.

Regarding the CARB sticker, it really depends on what REF u go to. I know HT user "Wes V" has BAR'd a B18C1 with skunk manifold and they didnt even care/ask for proof of legality, they already knew.

yeah it REALLY matters on the ref, the first ref i went to said my timing connector plug (something i didnt know existed, passenger side kick panel) in my CRX was blue and it was supposed to be grey.....i was like WTF?
so my second ref appointment i scheduled at a different station and they were WAY more laid back

i guess ill give it a try at a local smog place first..either way honda is only 5 min away from the house if it doesnt work

the number on it being the same doesnt necessairly mean its the same sensor, like i told you via PM, i had the HF map sensor on mine and failed smog horribly but ran just fine
