Default bad sensor?

Hey guys I did a search but coiuld not find any thing. When I first got dont with my engine swap i adjusted the timing to the red mark on the crank pulley and my car ran great. About two weeks later i got code 23 for my knock sensor. I readjusted my timing and it went away for a little while but came back a day later. I keep retarding my timing and I keep getting code 23. Im wondering if im getting code 23 just becasue the knock sensor is messed up. If it is messed up is there anyway to test the sensor? Any help or infor would be appreciated. My swap was a 96 b18c-r into a 94 LS.

tia

Dear tia:

Check the knock sensor wiring for continuity all the way to the ECU.
