Default b20vtec problem

Hey so I just had my motor rebuilt, its a 11.8 compression b20vtec build (gsr head) and I am in the breaking in process of it. Anyways I just had the oil changed at 500 miles. Previous to that the car was running fine but I never got on it since it was still being broken in. After the 500 mile oil change I hit vtec for the first time getting onto the freeway and after that the car runs a little wierd. Throttle response feels a little lagged and when starting up the car it turns over, then boggs down to almost the point of dying out, then picks up again and idles fine at a steady 1000rpm. The car is drivable but feels weird due to the throttle response issue. Anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?

btw: I had a fpr installed to increase the fuel pressure since its a bigger engine and it was running fine. Also, I have a a/f guage installed and before the problem started it was usually reading optimal, but now it constantly reads as rich (which sounds right because the car smells of gas now). Could the bogging down and throttle response problem be cause by the car running rich?
