Default B18C with CTR Pistons

I was planning on dropping CTR pistons and a B16A head on a B18C block.......I am wondering if I'll be able to run this setup on pump gas? Plus does anyone know the exact compression of this setup. I was getting conflicted numbers from different people and websites. Thank you.

check this out....it's from c-speedracing....lot's of good info

http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

should give you a rough guess

edit: as far as pump gas goes....i'm not sure what the highest compression you can run with pump gas....anyone know??? or is it dependent on more than just CR??

it would be very close to 12.01:1 CR.. you can run pump gas with that compression, just make sure you tune it properly. I know 2 guys running these, and they have no problems as of yet

No prob with good tuning. You'll have to retard your timing.

Would it matter if I have a chipped P28? The timing maps on it are a little weird. I kinda figured that I would have to retard the timing. We have 93 Octane here. But I plan on driving it to Cali where the octane is 91. Will that be any problem? Thanks again for all the help.

CTR's in a B16 head would put you right around 11.7:1, which is doable with good tuning..(even at 91 octane)

you'll slightly ping with the 91 octane we have here in cali but there's always octane booster.....and yeah, you'll have to retard your timing. you don thave to worry about the timing on the p28 either.....

CTRS on the B18C1 block with B16A head will jack the compression way up to 12.1 : 1

Should be fine with slight tuning. I know some guys running 12.5 : 1 untuned. But they have like 2 head gaskets on.

Thanks for all the help. My biggest concern was detonating. I can't afford to blow my engine, but I want to push as much out of it as I can.

currently running this setup in my daily beater except with a gsr head....

stock ecu, stock fuel pump & injectors... on 92 octane it would ping on a high 4th gear pull into 5th

on 94 octane no problems...

use a hondata s100 or vafc to tune for the street....good luck

I though the compression would be higher than 11.5? I thought it would be around 12.1. Since the B16A chambers are bigger then my compression should be lower than if i were running a GSR head. Does that sound right? Thanks.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by emissionsux &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Also, ho would that setup be with Toda Spec Bs?</TD></TR></TABLE>

pretty quick if dyno tuned correctly.

Will there be any heating problems because of the higher compression? Also, will I be able to run a stock headgasket with a single layer added on it to be on the safe side? Thanks.

I have an awesome site for you guys to throw into your favorites for figuring compression ratios: http://www.bojangs.com/calculator/
