Default B18b coolant temp sensor

My coolant temp sensor rubber connector broke and I'm not getting my temp gauge working so I was wondering can I rap the wire around the little needle and will that make it work?
Also will not having that sensor on cause my radiator fans to not turn on?

1) Technically you can do that since it's measuring resistance, but I would recommend heading to a junk yard and cutting one off the harness of some other Honda. Should all be the same.

2) Difficult to say since the terms you're using are so close. In your picture, the guy on the left is going to the temp. gauge sending unit. If that's what you mean, no. It only serves the gauge. The guy on the right feeds into the ECU if I'm not mistaken.
The fan switch is going to be, again this is how my car is, on the neck where the thermostat is, further back than where your picture is. If you jump this with the key on, the fan should kick on unless you have other problems.

Hope this helps.
