the b16 ecu is meant to run the 1.6L dohc vtec engine, unless it has been chipped and tuned to run for any other dohc vtec engine. It also doesnt look for the iabs, which the stock gsr intake manifold has. If you run a b16 ecu into a gsr, you basically lose the midrange power and will not make any power overall.

your "buddy" heard no such thing....this is false

Although you guys are right in that the p28 won't detect the IABs, the fact that it is meant to run a 1.6L means nothing. I used a totally stock p28 ECU on my 98 type R engine and it ran awesome, put down 184 whp with an LS 58mm TB and minor bolt ons I/H/E.

Not a very smart move to run a virgin p28 ecu on a dohc vtec motor. You run a very high chance of running lean and blowing your motor. If the p28 was chipped, then tuned for your motor, then thats a different story. BTW, the stock obd1 b16a ecu is a p30 out of a 94-95 del sol and/or pr3 out of the 92-93 jdm integra xsi. I believe the newer SI's used a p2t ecu. Basically, tell your friend to stick with his stock gsr ecu unless his motor is built, then running a chipped ecu tuned for the set up is the most ideal way to go.

Had the engine running fine for a year and a half..... and the ECU was a p28
