Conditions of VTEC engagement:

Engine Temp.

Oil Pressure (enough oil)

If those two are met VTEC WILL engage, if one does not pass.. NO VTEC.

yes.. even in reverse.

speed is irrelevant...as long as youre at 4400 or over it will engage once the two other conditions are met.

It doesnt rely on throttle. Common misconception that you must be at WOT for vtec to engage.

so true...

I re-iterate my above post... not to sound like a *****, but that is the end of the discussion.. Anything contrary to what I posted is false, and contributing to spreading more mis-information.

Speed doesn't mean anything, because you could be in neutral revving up and VTEC will still engage.

Yes, a lot of people do think you have to be at wide open throttle for VTEC to engage. Not true. You can be at 5% throttle and VTEC will engage as long as requirements are met.

Wrong. Try hooking up a VTEC light and see if it comes on when you sit in your driveway and rev. Even says in the Helms manual you need to be going a certain speed. Get the facts straight.

It doesnt engage when your sitting at the tree reving it to 7500rpm for your launch, unless you have a VTEC controller installed.

Hmmm.. I sit corrected. I also noticed my rev-limit is lower in neutral...(8K indicated on my R, as opposed to 9K indicated)
