which all season tires??
im in desperate need of all season tires right now. i DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR 2 SETS OF TIRES, so please dont recommend me getting a winter and a summer set, even though i know it's well worth the money and id be better off in the longrun, but i do not have the money in the first place. anyway, im looking for tires that will do good in snow/slush (im in chicago.... winters are a bitch), and something very good in rain. i'm not really looking for great performing tires when it comes to summer and dry performance, when i get some money, i'll get some all performance tires. ive searched sooooo many different kinds of tires yet all the reviews ive read have all said they suck in winter, etc. eagle rs-a, falkens, dunlops (sp5000 and a2's), etc. all of these ive heard are terrible in winter. please help!!! i really need it, thanks.

no. Driving winter tires on dry pavement in the summer will wear them out before the next snow will even hit.

I like having 2 sets of tires, but since you insist...
Check out Nokian WR. As far as I can tell, it's the only 4-season tire that actually has a true snow-tire rating - the mountain & snowflake symbol. Otherwise a '4-season' rating only means the rubber compound won't get hard in the cold. It has nothing to do with tread design or snow traction.
What size? Remember, for traction in snow & slush, you want NARROWER tires. 185 or 195.

Re: which all season tires?? (lke2drvgsr)
I have the Dunlop SP Sport A2's on my car and think they are fine in the winter..........no they are not a snow tire, but for an all-season tire they mix summer and winter driving nicely IMO. Also, all the reviews that I have seen say the same thing, you are the only one that doesn't like them. What exactly don't you like about them in the snow? Just slow down and you sould be fine......

(No I don't work for them...) But they aren't the cheapest tires out there.

doing very well with the bfg touring t/a's. they grip extremely well in a pretty bad snowstorm last week. i have had them siped though. still much better than the comp t/a's.

I am just trying to stress the point that ALL seasons dont work like people think, thats all. Sure you can drive in the snow...but dont except much of them.
