All Engine Modding
Hey I have a stock 95 integra gsr and im tryin to get some more hp outa it but dont wanna use any boost since those usually cost a fair amount. If I wanted to mod my engine what would be the most hp for the money. I was thinking Stage 1 or 2 Skunk cams. Would I have to get high performance valve springs and retainers with these and would their be any tuning that should be done by a proffesional? Any advice would be great thanks
If you got those cams it would probably be wise to get your valves and retainers upgraded to be on the safe side. I mean it wouldn't hurt andything. Also for you to see maximum output from those cams a tune would be in need and I/H/E would also help a little bit.
I was planning on doin I/H/E but only after the cams cause i was told those would give better results on a higher rpm engine. Should I go with stage 1 or 2 cams if im going to be doing daily driving? How much more hp does stage 2 have and how worse is the idle?

You can go either way with getting cams first or i/h/e, it wouldn't matter. I suggest that you invest in some internals along with the head work and i/h/e. If you want to stay oem for now with a bit more power. Jdm ITR pistons and rods or CTR pistons and rods, but with the CTR you would have to run race gas or a higher octane fuel only due to its high cr. Also get ctr or itr cams for the head. You'll notice a difference and still be oem reliable. If going aftermarket then you have many different brands to choose from, then thats where you would begin your reading and researching.

the stage 2 cams will need the upgraded valvetrain, the stage one should be ok with the stockers, but both will need a tune for real power gains

You would need to go to a tuner shop that has a dyno. Old school ways involve street tuning where essentially you take the car out and rip on it, bring it back make an adjustment, then go out and rip on it again and see if it feels any better. Street tuning is time consuming and does not usually see power gains as significant as on dyno sessions.
