Default AEM Filter

Hey fellow Honda-techers, I have a AEM CAI on my 2001 GS-R. I wanna change my air filter but every place I call is like "Uh what sizie is it" How the hell do I know....it comes w/ the intake. So my question is where can I get the new K&N filter.

Thanks!!

Check AEM's website. That should give you the diameter of the intake tube, which is really all you need. Just find a filter that will fit that. For some reason I'm thinking it's 2.75". Why you need a new one or just to lazy to clean the old one, wait for it to dry and then put it back on? Just curious...

Checked my AEM directions...98GSR the filter size is listed as 2.75" Boy that is helpful. I'm assuming it is the diameter.

Hey- I'm curious, how often are you supposed to change those out? Aren't they suppose to be lifetime? Are you running an air-bypass on your gsr?

You should never have to change the filter, unless it gets damaged in some way. There is a K&N filter cleaning and oiling kit sold at most auto-parts stores. It takes maybe 20 minutes (once you have the filter out), including drying time.

The kit doesn't cost much, and you can get a few cleanings out of it.

isn't the AEM filter a K&N where it has a million mile warranty or something? all you need to do is clean/recharge it w/ a $10 K&N Filtercharge kit from Kragen/Shucks/Checkers or whatever autopart store you go to.. you can also get raped at the performance parts store and pay $15 for the K&N filtercharger kit (same part number, same box, same instructions, same fluid quantities) if you wish to pay more...

for the filter diameters... to get the ID measurement.. you take off the old filter and measure it where it goes to the pipe/adaptor.. then for the length of the filter.. you measure from the filter base to the top.. .and for the OD you measure the filter circle... I think thats the sizes they specify the K&N/s.. the ID/inlet, length, and OD/outside...
