Default ACCELERATION PROBLEM

Sometimes when I press the gas, it won't accelerate right away. Its normally at higher speeds, but occasionally in first and second gear. It delays for maybe a second, then it goes. Anyone ever have this problem? Thanks!

mine does this when I start it up sometimes ... sooooometimes, I'm curious to see what answers you get. I thought I had bad plugs or cap / rotor so I replaced all that and it helped but didn't completely solve the problem

My guess would be a dirty fuel filter or dirty throttle body

At first I thought you were going to say something along the lines of "When going 30mph in 5th gear, sometimes it doesn't accelerate right away when I press the gas" But, glad that you didn't lol...i'm curious to see the answers too...usually you can find the answer by typing it into google...or at least a rough idea.

My 88 Civic DX also does this. I will get off the freeway, come to a stop, start to go and the car will not accelerate. I can stomp on and it and barley goes, then slowly it speeds up. Another strange thing was the Temp drops to the floor when I get off the freeway or randomly while driving. If any can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmmm lol. Before checking anything else, please check if your throttle cable is too lose because if it is, when you flour it the throttle body might not open all the way.If it's not that, check spark pugs or wires to see if it's gap properly.Check timing, fuel pump, and distributor also.

Cool. I actually just replaced my valve steam seals, plugs, wires and adjusted the rockers. Now this was actually occurring prior to this a still after. The car will accelerate fine when on the freeway or any other time but the cable might actually make sense. Is there a site where there are factory specs and not the Chilton manual crap? Thanks!
