Here's a problem I have with my teg. I was driving up a large hill coming home from school....I was driving on 5th gear at 50-55 mph and I was trying to acclerate then my car started to shake very violantly (like it was going to stall or something) then my check engine and abs light turned on. Has anyone else ever had this problem??

 

It may not be the problem but it sounds like you were lugging the car. You say you were going up hill. Did you have a car full of people? You probably already know but you shouldn't apply full throttle at low r.p.m.'s while under a load (like going up hill).

I have a D16, B18, and a B16 and never use fifth gear unless I'm on the highway. Even on the highway I drop it down to fourth for lane changes and passing.

Next time you go up the hill leave it in third. You'll have better throttle response and be able to pull nice through the corners.

 

No, I was driving myself at the time. Maybe ur right its not smart to go uphill on fifth. But I've driven on that hill plenty of times on fifth but it never gave me a probelm until a few days ago. I'm still gonna get it checked though. My friend is a mechanic
