Default ABS Problem

Well.. a few weeks ago, my ABS light came on. I thought it would be fine until I skidded on the street and almost hit a stopped car.

When I first start the car, the ABS light isnt on. It is up until I start driving that I hear a sound of a small motor and/or vacuum from the passenger side fenderwell/engine bay for about 5-10 seconds, then the sound stops, then the ABS light turns on. What's wrong? The resevoirs are filled with brake fluid. My rotors are warped and I thought that might be the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Well I can guess what is happening. I have had a similar thing happen to me when driving in the snow. As you may know there are speed sensors at every wheel for the ABS. If the ABS notices that one wheel is spinning at a different rate of speed it assumes that it is slipping. This activates the ABS. If that doesn't correct the problem in little bit it will shut off the ABS. You can pull an ABS code just as you would the check engine codes. You can look in the Helms to see what the code means or post here and I or someone could look it up for you. Chances are that is what is happening. If you’re on dry roads I would assume one of your speed sensors is no good. Does this make sense? That's my $0.02

Check your speed sensors. I had the same problem. My left front was broken. It cost me $50 for a new sensor. Honda wants about $100.

I have my helms in my car. I can grab it when I go on lunch. I'll let you know what that code means.

Okay I am looking at the Helms and it does not have a code 3 with no subcode. Are you sure that there is no short flashes and only 3 long ones? Let me know and I can look. But there is nothing listed for a 3. There is however 3-1 through 3-4.
