What is needed to make the conversion to a 98-01 from a 96 because i bought the 99 bumper and my car is in the shop and the guy says it will not work so i am confused.

You also need the 98+ headlights.

huh? whatever...

the 99 bumper should fit fine on your 97. Your 97 headlamps are smaller than the 98+. You'll just have a gap between the lamps and the bumper cover.

I've seen a silver 95 teg in the appearance forum which has a 98+ bumper but kept the original lamps. BTW, you will also need the corner signal lights as the 94-97's wont fit the 99 bumper.
