Default 8500

i was racing against a hatch tonight and i was in third gear i went to shift to fourth and it slammed it in second on accident. i reved all the way up to 8500. i have a old *** motor with 110k on it. it runs fine as of now but my brand new clutch feels a lil bit different. the only mod i have is intake. i was just wondering what kind of damage i could have done thanks.

8500 isn't bad... unless you're not in a GSR...

crap! i think the rev limiter should have doen something because there have been times when i just got my car, and i did my first downshift, i was @ about 6k in 3rd, and i downshifted to 2nd, the rpm shot off but it just stopped @ 7200...thank god
rev limiter is disabled in neutral

rev limiter is useless when the wheels are going faster than the engine

if your car is running fine the probably nothing is wrong, but if it idles unevenly, you might have melted valves, if its running like real crap or not running at all, you bent your valves. i did the same, from 5th to 2nd instead of 4th, one of the springs from my clutch busted and my tranny gave out but the motor was/is fine! went to about 9200 rpms (thank god i have a gsr)

don't ever think that the rev limiter applies when downshifting because it doesnt.

Hey all you people, Rev Limit is a fuel cut off. It cuts the fuel so it will not let you accel pass red line. But it will not stop the tranny from pushing the motor pass redline in cases of a 3rd at redline to 2nd Shift. Understand this and stop wondering where the Rev limiter when.

Exactly. It doesn't matter if you have a rev limiter or fuel cutoff. If you're goin high speeds, and you jam it into a much lower gear than you're suppose to, it has no choice but to rev that high at that speed...

If you were in a GS-R and revved to 8500rpm, you shouldn't worry... but I just read it over and you said you did it in your LS. There might be a problem so get it checked before you regret it...
