Default 3 Quarts Low on Oil!!!!

So, my VTEC was f-ing up and i heard alot of random clicking while VTEC should have been activated, and the CEL came on once. My car was hesitant, and in corners, my oil light would come on. It turns out i was 3 quarts low!! I was due for an oil change. Does this mean my rings are shot, and will a compression test let me know whats wrong?

just to let you know that vtec engines burn a little of oil so
its a good idea to check your oil level constantly
specially when you drive hard..

3 quarts oil means that the dipstick should have been reading nothing.... If it is under warranty take it to dealer... But I am wondering how the oil was so low? Was there a leak? I had a leak and I checked every time I drove the car.... Just to make sure.

My Vtec motor dosen't seem to burn oil even after months of use. Where would the oil go and why would it burn off? There's no logical reason for a Vtec to burn oil other than it just being ragged like most of them are.

i think by a little bit, he meant that it burns a non noticable amount...... And i think he means when u take it into vtec...... But yeah... I am wondering where this 3 quarts of oil went without u noticing....

every car is different its normal to burn oil when you are driving real hard......even if its stock my car is sorta built it burns like half a quart every two weeks which isn't that bad for the abuse i put it through........i remember when i had my ls/vtec motor milled GSR head with type R piston i check my oil every 3 days and i am short some. but every car is different.................vtec is all about oil pressure and when you push it alot its normal for it to burn some just not a whole lot

8000rpm means pretty high piston speeds, this combined with oil squirters pointed at the bottom of the piston will vaporize the oil. The PCV system oil separator only does a good job, some oil gets past it back into the intake track. Catch cans can capture what was missed.

Mine was mysteriously almost dry after getting body work done at a friend of a friend of the families house. Sat in his garage for about 4 days, I am glad I checked it when I got it home

I have the same problem...It's just running it into VTEC a lot. If you have some miles on the car, got some buddies that are beginning to use High Mileage Oil. They say the car runs a lot better and does not burn as much. But check ur dipstick periodically....VTEC does run on oil.

Let's see:
-VTEC f-ing up
-random clicking
-CEL came on
-hesitant
-oil light comes on in corners

It took that many clues for you to figure out what the problem was?!

This was all within a week that these problems appeared, so it didn't take me that long to figure it out. The first time the oil light came on was while I was on my way to autozone to pick up some oil and get my CEL read.
Anyway, I have been told my car blows blue smoke when I am vtec-ing, but it doesnt seem to burn at idle or during normal driving. And i know i dont have any leaks.
So back to my ORIGINAL question, will a compression/leak down test be able to tell me if my rings are shot.

This is logical, I know what you're talking about and have seen it. But how does this apply specifically to a VTEC motor? And I don't know if it accounts for like 1 qt. of oil per week.

OK, but my ORIGINAL question was, will a compression/leak down test tell me if my rings are bad?

Just pop the hood once a week and check your oil, it could save a bunch of problems later
