Honda Civic Type R: Your Burning Questions Answered

By -

Carfection answers all of their viewer’s interesting queries in this rather informative Civic Type R video.

Few cars in recent history have received nearly as much coverage as the latest Honda Civic Type R. But that’s what happens when a legendary moniker is revived to much fanfare. Those of us who don’t own or haven’t driven a Civic Type R are, well, curious. We want to know everything there is to know about it. And aside from your standard test drive, we found this Q&A video from Carfection to be particularly interesting. Mostly because they’ve been driving this particular Civic Type R for a while now.

There are, of course, few surprises in the questions they received. Right off the bat, someone wonders aloud if the Civic Type R would be better as a real-wheel drive car. “Well, no,” our host says bluntly. “The whole nature of this car is a front-wheel drive hot hatch. For me, a front-wheel drive hatch is the way to go.” He also notes that this car is “extremely easy” to heel-and-toe, thanks to auto blip.

Soon, the questions get hot and heavy, however. Our host stops short of calling the Type R the best Civic ever, mainly because it’s not really scary. This is such a poised machine that it’s almost boring to drive at the limit, apparently.

Surprisingly, the Type R’s controversial styling apparently doesn’t draw too many stares. The aluminum shift knob is very cold in the morning. And yes, it’s still an acceptable car to drive if you’re a grown adult. These, along with many other interesting tidbits, are all covered in the video. And if nothing else, we found it to be a refreshing change from your average review.
