A New EV-Only Honda Logo Is A Good Sign For Gearheads

A new, simpler “H” will don Honda’s newest EV models, but the old Honda logo lives on for enthusiasts.

Honda’s presence at the CES show in Las Vegas brought about a vision for the future. For one, they had a few concept cars, but they also presented something even more interesting. A new Honda logo. As seen above, the new H is now a standalone, compared to the traditional framed “H” we have seen in the past.

This new logo, according to Car and Driver, will be exclusively for forthcoming EV models. The CES show also saw the debut of “Honda 0 Series” concepts. Far from production, these concepts focus on BEV tech as well as fuel cell tech, and will debut in 2026. These concepts also had their own kind of stylized H logo to look like a 0.

Honda, interestingly, also has traditionally focused on increased efficiency of gas engines versus diving into the EV segment. So these concepts – and the new logo – show a renewed interest in electric power.

For now though, gasoline powered cars will carry on with the old Honda logo. Even the up-coming Prelude will carry the old H. So for us, we see it as a sign that gas engines will be sticking around for at least a little bit longer.

This means we can rest assured that the Civic Si and Type R will be gasoline power for the time being. Although if the Prelude is a… prelude (sorry, had to), hybridization of those platforms wouldn’t seem out of reach for the next generation of sporting Hondas. All wheel drive and trick programming could do the same for performance increases as torque vectoring technology in the current crop of front-wheel-drive cars.

Hybrids aren’t exactly a strange concept to Honda motorsports either. Several years of use in both IndyCar, WEC, and Formula 1 means the concept is proven not only to be green, but also increase performance. And you still get the satisfying aural pleasure of a piston engine. Best of both worlds, if you ask us. Long live the old Honda logo.
