Power window and lock issue (2000 Accord)
I have a 2000 Accord LX that has an intermittent electrical issue that recently started and affects both power locks and windows on passenger side.
Passenger windows "stutters" when put up or down from master switch but both windows work perfectly from their own window switch. I have done the following:
Passenger windows "stutters" when put up or down from master switch but both windows work perfectly from their own window switch. I have done the following:
- Check all fuses (driver sides, passenger side, and under hood) and connectors (driver sides, passenger side) with multi-meter
- Replaced Master switch
- Checked wires for breakage inside rubber "boot" where driver side door closes (as I was told it was a common issue with this model)
- Replaced all 4 power lock actuators
Guessing here:
A quick look at the reference info I have for the wiring diagrams suggest that the passenger's multiplex control unit would be a place to look. -- However, being intermittent can make it a real hard issue to diagnose with certainty.
You need to get access to the wiring diagram's if you can and see for yourself if this makes sense to you. I saw this component common to both systems. I wouldn't replace this unless it was under a certain threshold cause it probably costs a lot. Good Luck sir!

Thanks for the feedback. I had thought multiplex unit may have been the issue but passenger windows work perfectly from their own switches which would suggest the multiplex on that side is working correctly. Would you agree with this thought process?
If the left rear passenger window is not affected, then the issue may be due to the passenger side multiplex control unit.
The passenger side multiplex control unit is not part of the left rear passenger side window circuit.
This is how the circuit works when you use the master switch for the respective passenger windows:
Left rear window
When you open or close the left rear window from
the power window master switch, the door multiplex
control unit sends a signal to the driver’s multiplex
control unit through the BRN wire. The driver’s
multiplex control unit turns on the window motor by
supplying power to the GRN or GRN/BLU wire.
Front Passenger’s and Right Rear Windows
When you open or close the front passenger’s or
right rear window from the power window master
switch, the door multiplex control unit sends a
signal to the driver’s multiplex control unit through
the BRN wire. The driver’s multiplex control unit
sends this request to the passenger’s multiplex
control unit and turns on the window motor by
supplying power to the control wires for the
corresponding window switch

On ebay right now, there are at least two passenger multiplex control units available for less than $30 with free shipping. They are shipping with the fuse box; but, you can just replace the control unit for a quicker and easier job than replacing the whole passenger side fuse box.

I saw a few on ebay but several either listed it as passenger side but then was part # for driver side or it was for an EX not an LX.. it's a 2.3L (not sure if it makes a difference for this part)
Am I correct it should be part # 38850-S84-A05.

For a 4-door LX, either 38850-S84-A04 (mfg USA) or 38850-S84-A05 (mfg Japan).
