Craftsmanship and attention to detail on this amazing Honda Civic SiR II EG6 are simply second to none.

With each passing year, we come across builds that continue to one-up each other. That’s certainly the case with Built by Legends’ 1994 Honda Civic SiR II EG6, an amazing example of a restomod that was good enough to wind up on display at the Spoon Sports Type One garage in the 2020 Spoon Collection. This incredible build is quite simply like nothing else that’s ever been done before, and it literally takes the iconic EG6 to an entirely new level.

There are many replicas of Civic racers from this era floating around, but few go to the same extremes this Honda Civic SiR II EG6 does to get there. It’s specifically being built to emulate the magic of the cars that competed in the Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC) decades ago, and that process starts under the carbon fiber hood with a B18C engine lifted from an Integra Type R.

This is no ordinary powerplant, however, but rather, one that’s been treated to a number of special parts. It’s been completely rebuilt by Spoon itself and fitted with a yellow cam cover and most importantly, a side-flow header and exhaust that does not go underneath the oil pan, as is the case with stock versions of these cars. Rather, it’s been done just like the race cars that inspired the build, which allows the engine to sit 14mm lower in the engine bay to improve the car’s handling characteristics.

As if that isn’t impressive enough, Built by Legends wanted to also improve the car’s rigidity without adding a roll cage, so they went to the trouble of bonding carbon fiber pieces to the body in various areas in an effort to stiffen it up, which is simply incredible to behold. This way, handling performance is optimized without giving up any sort of comfort or streetability.

This incredible build is still a couple of months away from completion, but there’s no denying that it’s going to be perhaps the finest EG6 Civic on the planet once it’s finished. The attention to detail here is nothing less than incredible, and it’s sure to be the envy of every JDM fan that lays eyes on it.
