Watch a 1999 AP1 Honda S2000 Lay Down the Law

Custom S2000 attracts the attention of the police. It’s not bad, it’s just modded that way.

When auto vlogger Clay Wong was filming an episode of “Honest Car Reviews” for his popular You Tube channel, a funny thing happened. He was driving a 1999 AP1 Honda S2000. Okay, not just any S2000, this beast has been customized and modified into a JDM stunner. And then the police pulled him over. No, it wasn’t because he was speeding, but because–according to Wong–they just had to see this exceptional Honda up close.

This S2000 belongs to Deshan Silva, and clearly we want to be Silva when we grow up. His car is gorgeous, and he has modded it to perfection.

One of the first things we noticed was the absence of the S2000’s convertible top. Silva has outfitted his car with an OEM hard top. As Wong says, the hard top really adds something special to the overall look of the car, and ties his aesthetic together perfectly.

Another sharp detail is the choice of color. Yes, that is Lamborghini’s Verde Draco. Seeing this Italian supercar color on a Honda S2000 is inspired. Plus, it really shows off the lines and curves. It complements the bronze details with the Yakohama 8008 tires.

“Aw! Listen to that V10!” Wong exclaims as he first opens the car up. He is clearly having a blast behind the wheel. Who wouldn’t?

The right-hand-drive car was built not just for looks, but for performance. And its capability is on fully display in the video.

Carbon fiber is everywhere on the S2000. There is a Voltrex fron with carbon fiber canards, carbon fiber hood, custom guards and fenders, and even carbon fiber side mirrors.

“He left no pedal untouched,” Wong says of the many modified details.

Inside there are Recaro seats, and a lot of Alacantra. And it looks sleek and sporty. A proper race car.

“It looks racetrack ready, and it’s also super aggressive,” Wong notes.

Once on the road, Wong truly sees the beast released. The gutteral exhaust note is intoxicating. Clearly this car is a thrill to drive; spry and agile, and fiercely powerful on the straightaway.

It doesn’t matter that this car is 20-years old, it is still a rager. We truly get to witness why the S2000 long held the record for most horsepower per liter.

Wong has a genuine blast test driving this car, and it makes the watching the video a pleasure. Check it out for all the details on this Honda phenom.
