Glass beading does wonders on cast aluminum, as mentioned.

Ok here's pictures as promised. Im very pleased how it came out. It looks like virgin aluminum. Im surprised how close it looks to the painted block but wont rub off or tarnish.

[Glass Media Blasted]



I taped off every hole, gasket surface and bearing surface. And then taped off the deck and the entire crank case too. Minimal media found its way past the tape but I thouroughly cleaned everything. I removed all the oil galley plugs and power washed everything. I also used a set of engine cleaning brushes to clean out all the galleys and passages. Then the block was taken to the engine shop to have machine work done and hot tanked on top of all that. So its perfectly clean and not a grain of glass anywhere!

Wow, old thread... Aluminum oxide blasted my K24. Left old main bearings in so they'd protect my mains. I'm putting new bearings in anyway.
