Won't Go into ANY gear! HELP!!
FINALLY got all the loose ends of my swap done. Now I cannot get into any gear. Car on or car off it does not matter. When I try it seems to hit something. I can hear a clunk noise just before it should go into gear.
I have a 97 civic hatch with LSV, GSR tranny and GSR linkage. Have checked ALL bushings. Again the shifter seems to stop before I get into gear. Should I have used a 99-00 Si linkage?
I have checked the bitch pin also. It does not grind at all. Like if the clutch did not disengage and I was trying to force it into gear.
Please help, I want to drive my car. Been struggling for 2 weeks with this swap.
Nick

if your engine is not running and (everything installed correctly) if it will not let u shift you either have a bent shift fork or something is not installed correctly internally inside your trans. sorry dude!

Re: Won't Go into ANY gear! HELP!!
The clutch seems to relese just fine. And I did install the throw out bearing correctly. With the car off you dont need the clutch to put it in gear. (nothing is turning)
I am gonna pull the linkage and see if I can get in gear manually. Fingers crossed If not I get to pull the tranny YEAAAAAAAA!!!!
UPDATE:
I do infact have to pull the tranny. It will not go into gear manually w/ linkage disconnected.

try to spin the input shaft. if its locked up, check the snap ring in the case. Ive not clipped the ring in all the way and had a similar problem. Had to JAM the hell out of it to get it in gear and then when i let the clutch out it wouldn't even turn. Did you have the trans apart?

"wont let me shift" like i cant move the shifter in the cabin? Or like the shifter moves but just wont land in any gears.

UPDATE:
I pulled the tranny and took it Forged Performance (good guys in there ) They popped the case and found the shift change assembly had a broken arm. Everything else looked great. Even though It is a LS trans and was supposed to be GSR. But now it will drive at least. Only cost me $100. They even stayed after just to help me!!

Re: Won't Go into ANY gear! HELP!!
I'm having the same problem car wont go into gear because it is stuck in third. I pulled the tranny and checked the synchros and gave it a full inspection even cleaned it inside. I re-assembled everything together , pin at the top gave me such a hard time. tranny in back together and when i try selcting gears it seems like the gear shift points are real close from neutral to any other gear. Is that normal?
