Is VTEC or VTC ever activated on a Daily Driver?

Is VTEC or VTC ever activated on a Daily Driver?
I read a lot of online material on how VTEC and VTC work on Hondas. My understanding is, these technologies kick-in when the RPMs and engine load cross a threshold, I think it is above 3000 RPM.
I have a 2014 CRV used as a DD. I tried various scenarios on my daily commute to get the RPM above 3000 and keep it there. The two times RPMs went above 3000 was when I accelerated on the on-ramp, and when I wanted to quickly pass a vehicle in the front. After a brief spike, naturally the RPMs fell back to around 2000. Even at 80MPH the RPMS remain around 2200.
I am asking these question because - there is no way form me to know/verify when VTEC or VTC is activated (it's behind the scenes). You only feel their presence when it throws a code or the VTC actuator rattles.
1) Is VTEC or VTC ever activated on a Daily Driver? (when RPMs never go over the threshold, except momentarily)
2) If it is activated, is there any way to feel it or verify it?
I really appreciate any insight.

you need to be at full throttle or close to it for vtec/vtc to activate
and you are not going to feel or hear anything in a crv, it does have i vtec but its not the same as a rsx s or a si, your crv only has i vtec on the intake side and its more for fuel economy on the crv then for speed/power , plus it has a big intake system with resonators to keep the noise down

for the sake of satisfying your curiosity (and ours..) an indicator light could be temporarily wired into the VTEC solenoid and placed somewhere it can be seen while you drive. it'll pop on anytime VTEC is activated.
for more details on how to do something like this check out this article at Autospeed
I may try this myself on the TL....
EDIT: also try searching "VTEC light"

01-0720 and hondamark35, thank you for your responses. Great idea hondamark35. I need to look into VTEC light. Can something like this be done on VTC oil control solenoid as well?

though I understand it's function mechanically, I am not too familiar with the electronic function of the VTC system. It may be a more progressive signal and not "ON-OFF" like the VTEC solenoid. this could make wiring a light a little more complicated but probably still do-able.
