Default Tested the Fuelmiser gas saving device - IT WORKS!!

You guys might remember this discussion last year about the gas saving device "Fuelmiser".

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2079720

There were members of H-T that felt that the product was bogus and was only good for improving my golf swing when applied to my wrists.

One of the officers of the company, Maury Warshauer came on another chatroom , defended the Fuelmiser and offered anyone a money back guarantee if they would test the product, and if they didn't see a minimum of a 10% savings on their fuel bill the company would return their purchase price in full. I don't know if anybody took this offer.

I personally would never test those money-back guarantees, from any company. In that topic, I offered to test the product but I would not pay for it. At first he did not want to do that because he does not know me, has never met me and he just did not want to give the product out for free. After a few discussions, he relented and sent me one unit for me to test.

Our agreement was that whatever the test showed, I would publish. All I had to do was follow accepted test protocols. No strings attached. So here you go:

The results are as follows. I have a 1999 Infiniti QX4 with a weak 3.3L V6 (but it's so damn reliable). I did 1200 miles without the Fuelmiser to establish my baseline which was 15.2 mpg.
I then installed the Fuelmiser and did another 1200 miles. My mpg was 17.1 mpg or a 12% increase in my mpg.

I know it's unbelievable. My coworkers think i'm full of BS. I have not been paid to post any of this information. The facts are what they are. I did not believe in this device when I first read about it. I showed my coworkers in the office and they got a good laugh out of it. All I can say is that with rising fuel costs, I am glad I have a Fuelmiser on my QX4 (who's laughing now!!)

The lab rat:

i suggest somebody else try this and post the results - you'll be surprised!!!

Popular Mechanics tested those BS devices on a dyno....they do not work.

There are too many variables in the environment in which you did your test. Although you did do a nice job of trying to do a controled test.

If any maintenance was done to the vehicle, if the weather conditions were not equivalent, if the driving style and speeds differed, etc, etc, the results could be skewed.

It's an extreme example, but my RSX-s gets as good as 33-35mpg in summer type temps above 70. It has gone as low as 28 with temps in the single digits and lower. This is with a pretty much routine daily commute.

Yup, junk!

Maybe you should try the electric super charger now and do a write up on that.

Thats a good looking QX!

Anyways I think I would agree with everyone else. There are just to many variables. If you said your ran the car on a dyno and compared milage then it might give it more credit.

Either way thanks for taking the time to try to find a way to save some money. Gas prices are ridiculous right now.

Do they use the same blend of gasoline year round in California? When I lived in Ohio, would similar percentage increases when they switched from winter to summer blends.

This is also true! I have noticed many many different times milage differences between brands of fuels. I get better milage using shell gas than any other gas in my tow truck. I have tested this many many many times over and over again and it always come out better milage with the shell gas.

I have also noticed that I get the worst milage when I use quick-trip gas.
