Default Rear Brakes Stuck Closed??

Last night i hopped in my car when i got off of work and started driving home, after about 2 blocks, my wheels started screeching ridiculously loud. It sounds like the screech of an old train trying to stop on rail road tracks.

I didnt start driving with my ebrake up or anytihng tho. I know that for sure.

It seems as if i was driving fine. then all of a sudden my rear brakes locked up.
I got out of my car looked at em, couldnt really see anything noticable (it was nighttime).
So i drove my car home carefully with this horrible screeching, after after about 4-5 blocks, it seems the rear brakes let go and stoped screeching and holding my back wheels down.

I came home, jacked the car up, took off one of my rear wheels, and when inspecting it, i noticed the brake pad is constantly rubbing on the rotor when i spin the wheel. I tried to push the piston on the caliper back out, then reinsert the pads and press down the brake pedal to get it pressed back, and it was the same as before then though.

I dont believe the brake pads should be always touching the rotor, even if it is just a little, because i could still notice considerable drag on em.

Any ideas?
Im thinkin warped rotor, but hell, this is weird it locked up like that. Warped rotors u usually can tell they're coming.

Things to check...

Stuck handbrake cable or lever on the caliper. Mine got stuck from corrosion, so when I released the handbrake, the cable went slack & the spring didn't have enough force to turn its lever on the caliper.

Stuck caliper slide pins. So when you take your foot OFF the brake pedal, the piston releases, but the outboard pad still drags because the caliper doesn't slide to release it.

Wear, corrosion, & crud around the ends of the brake pads, where they fit into the caliper yoke. Or whatever that thing is called that stays in place when you swing the caliper out. When the caliper is off, the pads should fit good, but not tightly wedged into place.

I've got a 2000 RL. Could someone help me find the location of the parking brake cable adjustment? It appears that it must be in the center console but I can't find the access to it...........thanks!
