New engine no start
So when my old engine cams ceased in engine last year I decided to swap out motor and put a new(second hand one in).. I've done about 95% of the swap over, h23 to h23, there have been a few hiccups throughout the swap but has been mainly small things or things that I just decided to replace anyway. Now the motor is in, everything in the engine bay is back together and I have tried to fire it up... Now I am starting to have a few issues, first off I was getting no voltage through ignition coil and CEL light wouldn't come on (9/10 times) when i turned key to on, then I changed IC and was getting volts but still no spark to plugs. Found a small ground wire under thermostat hadn't been tightened up and was the reason the CEL light wasn't coming on. Now I have spark to all plugs and found ignition timing to be out... so I adjusted the distributor (I had done firing order correctly before I tried to start) and fixed the timing. With spark to the plugs I got the CEL light to come on when key was turned to ON however now my fuel pump isn't priming, it was when the CEL light would come on in a blue moon before I tightened that ground cable. Hope all that makes sense.
So now I am really stuck I have been searching forums and net for a solution but can't find one to fix my current problem... Fuel pump not priming and engine will crank but not turn over.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Would be greatly appreciated!

Re: New engine no start
Need to find out why fuel pump is not working,
First test for the three powers to the PGM-FI Mail Relay,
Without MM&Y of car I can't give you colors, [but not needed]
Drop PGM-FI Main Relay leave plugged in and with a 12V test light probe each lead.
With ign. switch off you should find 1 lead with 12V+,, [hot at all times]
You should have another lead that is 12V+ when ign. switch is in run AND start.
And a third lead that is 12V+ only when ign. switch is in start position.
Also confirm relays ground. [black] has full continuity to chassis ground. [grounded at thermostat housing along with ECU].
If all good you may have a bad PGM-FI Main Relay, [easily fixed in most cases]... Main Relay Fix and Troubleshooting (Honda, Acura) 94

Re: New engine no start
Sorry I haven't replied yet, lost internet for a couple weeks there! I managed to get the fuel pump working so I have fuel to the rail, but engine still wont fire up.. I even tried putting aerostart in each cylinder directly and not firing ( I do have spark) thinking maybe a compression problem??

Re: New engine no start
Well you need compression/fuel/ spark and timing for engine to run, find out what is missing?
Start by confirming mechanical timing, [valve timing].
Check compression.
Check fuel pressure.
Check quality of the spark with an HEI spark tester.
Make Sure injectors are pulsing, [confirm fuel is reaching cylinders].94

Also make sure the valve lash is set correctly.

Re: New engine no start
Alright, so I have got everything sorted except the fuel. Dizzy that I had put in had a bad rotor. So I replaced that and found the ground off under the thermo housing, fixed that. I have spark and with aerostart just in the intake tube she's running. But I'm not getting fuel to the filter.. I checked fuses they were all good so I replaced the main relay, still no fuel prime. I'm gonna get a 12v tester on the relay in the next week. Any other ideas?
