Default Limp mode? Help please Don't know much about Hondas

Bought a 2000 Honda civic ex coupe. It has a d16y7 non vtec motor. It has the p2p ecu and harness still for y8. It only revs out to 5300 rpms. Cel is on. Ran a scan tool came up O2 sensor and iat sensor. I replaced the iat sensor. Please help, thank you.

So, fix the O2s and try again? What specific code is it throwing?

Also, you need the correct ECU or its never going to work correctly.

Correct on the ecu comment. The d16y8 is going to be looking for the input from the VTEC solenoid which you obviously do not have on your current d16y7 non VTEC. Get the correct ecu and she will hop out of limp mode. Fix the O2 at the same time if you choose or just deal with crappy fuel mileage, that's your call. But fixing the sensor alone will not correct your problem.

And it won't. It needs to be out of a 99-00.

What is the cat situation on the car? Does it have the Y7 close coupled manifold or the Y8 header style with the cat up under the car?

It has an aftermarket exhaust with a resonator not cat.

You can use the 96 ECU with an adapter harness or just get the correct one

You're welcome. Note that you're still going to have a check engine light with no cat. You picked a quagmire of a project for a first Honda.

Important question... Does it have the Y8 intake manifold on it, or has the whole Y7 setup been swapped over too?

Also, you still haven't told us what DTCs it is throwing.

I'm not sure what dtc it's throwing it came up intake air temperature sensor and both O2 sensors there's no spot in my header for an O2 sensor. I don't know if it's off the y7 or y8 how can I tell?

Sorry I didn't read intake manifold. I thought it said exhsust manifold. How do I tell the difference between y7 and y8 intake manifold?

Okay. You need to read this thread:

Swapping a y8 intake manifold onto a y7 - D-series.org

Go through it step by step and make sure everything checks out. If not, you're pissing in the wind trying to make it work.

Nothing personal, but your best bet is probably to find someone local who is familiar with these kind of things and knows what he/she is looking at... or you can take the time to learn and figure it out yourself.

Your problems are never going to be solved as long as folks here are the ones asking the questions.
