Help with bearing size k24/eagle rods
This is a topic that many of us noobs have trouble with..
Ok so here's my issue.. This is my first time assembling a bottom end, so bear with me please..
It's a k24a4, stock crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Wiseco Pistons (everything was balanced). Now, i'm trying to order my rod bearings.. I would prefer to use OEM Honda bearings, but as it seems there isn't a thick enough bearing..
Rod measurements:
cyl1 -- 51.4mm/2.027"
cyl2 -- 51.4mm/2.027"
cyl3 -- 51.4mm/2.027"
cyl4 -- 51.4mm/2.026"
Crank Journal measurements:
cyl1 -- 47.9mm/1.889"
cyl2 -- 48.0mm/1.889"
cyl3 -- 48.0mm/1.891
cyl4 -- 47.9mm/1.888
Rod minus Journal = X, then I divided this by 2 (bearing come in 1/2's)
cyl1 -- 3.5mm/0.138" divided by two= 1.75mm/0.069"
cyl2 -- 3.4mm/0.138" divided by two= 1.7mm/0.069"
cyl3 -- 3.4mm/0.136" divided by two= 1.7mm/0.068"
cyl4 -- 3.5mm/0.138" divided by two= 1.75mm/0.069"
Here is Honda's bearing sizes...
Rod bearing-to-journal Oil Clearance (Honda service manual specs accord)
Standard (new) 0.032mm-0.066mm/0.0013"-0.0026"
Service Limit 0.077mm/0.0030"
Rod bearing-to-journal oil clearance (Eagle's spec that came with my rods)
0.0381mm-0.0889mm/ .0015"-0.0035"
Now heres where I run into my problem, if I ran a blue bearing 1.510mm/0.0594", its still not thick enough..
Clearance of journal & rod minus thickness of bearing
1.75mm minus 1.510mm = 0.24mm
0.069" minus 0.0594" = 0.0096"
Has anyone ran into this issue with these rods? I am doing something wrong?
Any and all help is appreciated
