Default b20 vtec up set up

Hey guys,

Im just about ready to get my b20vtec put together. the short and long of it is that im going to run the set up all motor for a bit, then slap a turbo once i feel i have everything tuned in. Now here is what my set up looks like

97 b20b
97 gsr head
arp studs
je pistons 9:1 comp
eagle rods
eagle lsvtec dowell pins
eagle vtec kit(oil filter tee)
gsr girdle and windage assembly

So i was wondering since i got the head open, and i know that im going to boost it with in a few months, should i toss in a block guard? Im gonna wait til i crack the walls or something breaks before i go with sleeves, either that or just sleeve an ls 84mm on the side and wait.

also if i remember correctly the gsr head should bump the comp up by about .5 correct?

any other things im missing for my build? Thanks

The GSR head would raise compression .2 more than a B16 head.

instead of waiting until something breaks to sleeve it, why dont you do it right the first time. dont just put in a block guard and cross your fingers. higher compression vtec engines dont like boost, it is well known. if you are planning on doing it, do it right. ie:sleeves, blockguard, b16 head, lower compression head gasket, stand alone, low compression pistons, etc.

I think you should go ahead and get it sleeved, it's dumb to wait until something breaks, and don't use a block guard, they tend to compound the problem rather than fix it.
