B-series differential? Difference between hydro and cable
I have a question about B-series differentials. I know there are differences in the ring gear bolt hole dimensions between the GSR/Type-R and the others. What I need to know is what the differences are between the 'other' applications, such as hydro vs. cable.
I am working on a 3rd gen Civic that has an early Integra 'CG' transmission in it. This transmission uses the same differential as a 90-93 Integra LS/GS or 99-00 Civic Si. I have successfully installed an OBX diff into one of these trannys - it did requre some grinding on the case to clear. The OBX one was simple, since they had one that listed the 99-00 Civic Si. I am wanting to get a clutch type diff to try in the car, and I am having trouble understanding all of the different part numbers available and would like to know if there are any real differences between these diffs other than the ring gear.
I don't care if the speedo gear is different, since I don't have a speedo anyway. I just need to make sure the basic dimensions are the same between the various types of non GSR/Type-R diffs. Things like bearing mounting locations, axle spline dimensions, etc.
I've already searched for quite a while. There must be a reason why there are different part numbers for all of these applications. I'm hoping it is just because some of the diffs include the speedo drive.
If anyone knows the answer, I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks - Chris
